Is Dancing in worship Scriptural? This is a good question and a controversial one at that. Let me begin by saying there are many references in the bible to dancing. Read for yourself 1 Chronicles 15:29 2 Samuel 6:14 Psalms 149 :3 150:4 Again we return to the Tabernacle of David and there we find an expression of dance before the Lord David himself danced before the Lord and his wife despised him, this was dedication day of the Tabernacle. We are told in Ecclesiastes 3 there is a time for everything in verse 4 it tells us there is a time to dance. Most of the Canaanite dancing was sexual lustful sensuous mostly they danced before idols, but this type of dancing by Israel was very different it was in real joy praise and part of worship before the Lord. Man longs to worship, many people worship soccer teams,football teams, pop stars, rock stars, film stars and should I say preachers. These people are placed with the highest esteem in the modern world. As I said we were all created to worship so this is in all of our DNA. But what about worship music in toady's society? I believe today we have many varieties of worship music, many styles of music which can be used in worship, God created this powerful expression called music. What is Worship? Has Worship become a brand rather than a lifestyle? Worship music has become the normal diet of church life for the past few years many churches dumping the hymn books for data projectors. Projecting on the big screen the latest songs by all the top Worship artists or some may call stars, since when did we become stars in worship. Worship music has one of the biggest sales in the music business today, that even the big name record companies are now behind all Christian labels, the thing that concerns me is this, Do we just sing the latest songs because every other church does it, this seams to me that this is case, but surely we should be producing songs as worship leaders and singers in the church. Doesn't the Psalmist encourage us to sing a new song unto the the Lord. Don't get me wrong I sing some these songs myself in the church but I don't jump on the bandwagon and sing because they are popular in the church for me they have to be Biblical sound. ...
